Introduction and methodology

To solve any problem effectively, it must first be located and understood. The thesis used the analytical method: examining a problem or phenomenon from different perspectives in order to understand or explain it, and separating a whole into its elements to study each one individually. Two types of analysis were used to address potential problems from the perspective of both the market and an example organisation.

The aim of the thesis was to design and implement an integrated enterprise management system for the construction industry.

Problems and solutions

This thesis examined problems in the construction industry and potential ways to reduce them.

Although construction is fundamental to economic development, the industry is extremely inefficient and faces a range of challenges requiring comprehensive solutions based, among other things, on management science and information technology management techniques.

Because the range of problems is broad and there is no single point of failure, systems analysis and MBSE methods can be helpful.

Example organisation

Enterprise architecture is useful for presenting the organisation as a whole.

The enterprise architecture model is intentionally less detailed. It presents the organisation at a high level; details are captured in other traceable elements.

In parallel, an application was created to support the delivery of construction and installation contracts. This application contributed to projects in central Warsaw and on the Warsaw Metro.
